Radiography (X-ray) is a widely used diagnostic method where images of the examined body part, called radiographs or X-ray images, are obtained using X-ray radiation. X-ray examinations are among the most informative and are often prescribed as initial diagnostic tests.

During an X-ray procedure, images of the body part are captured, aiding specialists in diagnosing conditions and selecting effective therapies. Basic radiology examinations are available for chest organs (chest X-ray), musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, and spinal vertebrae), nasal sinuses, and other body parts.

Common uses of X-ray examinations include:

• evaluating bone fractures;
• assessing bone structure (deformities, growths);
• joint evaluation (osteoarthritis, traumatic injuries);
• spinal evaluation (spondylosis, spondyloarthrosis, congenital abnormalities);
• lung assessments (pulmonary diseases) and etc.

The necessity for X-ray examinations is individually assessed, therefore requiring a referral from a family doctor or specialist. Pregnant women should avoid X-ray examinations.
